THE REDEEMED COLLECTION No. 6

The Father’s Love for the Returning Son

Oil painting on panel, 60 x 48 inches

The story of the Prodigal Son is found in Luke, chapter 15 of the Bible.

About this painting

Here you see the moment of redemption, when the prodigal son returns home and implores his father to accept him back.

The story Jesus told about a father and his youngest son who squandered his inheritance has become a universal meme to describe a wandering youth who comes back home with a sorrowful and repentant attitude about his bad choices. But I believe that Jesus wanted us to understand more about the receptive heart of a forgiving father.

I painted a man overwhelmed with love and a desire to communicate total forgiveness to a wayward son. This is a picture of the God who created all things and is glad to show mercy to anyone who humbles themselves before Him.
