Now Represented by South Street Art Gallery

In the modern era of such diverse artistic styles, a realist painter is always encouraged to find a gallery that features representational art and wants to sell the work of artists who are committed to that genre. I am honored to be included in South Street Art Gallery in Easton, MD and to be presented as the Featured Artist.

In the modern era of such diverse artistic styles, a realist painter is always encouraged to find a gallery that features representational art and wants to sell the work of artists who are committed to that genre. I am honored to be included in South Street Art Gallery in Easton, MD and to be presented as the Featured Artist this month.

The pieces that are presented represent the breadth of my work in figurative, still life, and landscape art. My latest piece, Reluctance - Barn Owl, represents my focus on wildlife, a fascination I have developed while living in the Blue Ridge Mountains. While the interaction of man with creatures in nature is a timeless and universal theme we most often have experienced it on a farm. Farm life is not only a place of unending work, but of encounters with the beautiful and the mysterious. This painting attempts to combine those by capturing a fleeting moment when the magnificent alights on the mundane.

Egg tempera is a delicate medium made from egg yolks and powdered pigments. It is a water soluble mixture that builds form through layers and layers of thin paint strokes that have an intrinsically transparent nature. Light penetrates down and bounces back up capturing color in a way that is unlike any other medium.

THREE NEW PIECES FOR SALE IN CAPE COD

Three new paintings are for sale at the Small Works Holiday Exhibition at Collins Galleries, Orleans, MA. This exhibit, from November 25 through December 8, features many artists regularly represented by the gallery, and a number of guest artists invited to participate.

Fall Foraging - egg tempera, 12 x 15 in.

The exhibit offers small works submitted by some of the most highly respected realist painters in the country today. Michael Klein, Joshua LaRock, Joseph McGurl, Jeffrey T. Larson, Serge Marshenikov, Travis Schlaht, Katie Whipple, and Paul Oxborough are among this outstanding group of artists exhibiting.

I am honored to be included and have submitted three paintings rendered in egg tempera reflecting the scenes often encountered in the rural community where I live.

Into the Woods - egg tempera, 12 x 15 in.

Into the Woods - egg tempera, 12 x 15 in.

Horse and Buggy - egg tempera, 12 x 15 in.

The finished painting exhibits a satin egg shell finish with a dry matte quality. The artist must approach it patiently, building slowly through each small stroke of the brush until the image is bound together through thousands of statements of color.
